Body type- What do you know about your body type?

Do you Know what is your body type? In this world, No one is similar to each other, there is something which differentiate one person from other. If we talk about the body type then they are also different for different individuals.

Before going for bodybuilding you should know about your body type. Now the question arises why we should know about our body type?
Here is the answer. It’s important to identify and understand your body type. Different body types require different training methods and diet plans. So to have the appropriate training and sufficient diet you should know about your body type.

Now, there are mainly three body type: Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorph.

Characteristics of your body type


An Ectomorph is skinny body type.They are often below the average weight for their height and have a skinny appearance. They have very low body fat. This is because they have very fast metabolism rate. They eat a lot but make no progress in terms of fat gain.

Characteristics of ECTOMORPHS

  • Small delicate frame and bone structure.
  • Classic hardgainer.
  • Flat chest.
  • Small shoulders.
  • Very Thin.
  • Lean muscle mass.
  • Finds it hard to gain weight.
  • Very Fast metabolism rate.


Since Endomorphs have high metabolism rate hence they required a high calories intake and maintain a proper Ectomorphs diet plan. If we talk about the workout routine then workouts should be short and intense. They should avoid cardio. And don’t workout more than 2-3 days a week.

Unlike ECTOMORPHS, MESOMORPHS has a natural muscular physique. They have large bone structures and large muscles. They can easily gain and lose weight. Perfect Metabolism. The perfect bodybuilding body type.

Characteristics of MESOMORPHS

  • Athletic.
  • Generally hard body.
  • Well defined muscles.
  • Rectangular shaped body.
  • Strong.
  • Gains muscle easily.
  • Gains fat more easily than ectomorphs.


The MESOMORPH gains weight easily than Ectomorph so they should watch their calories intake. And follow the proper MESOMORPHS diet plan. If we talk about the workout routine then Mesomorph body type responds to weight training very quickly. Gains can be seen from the 4-5 weeks of the training. A combination of Cardio and Weight training is good for Mesomorphs.

Completely different from Ectomorphs and Mesomorphs .Endomorphs are generally soft but solid. They gain mass very fast compared to Ectomorph or Mesomorph. They usually built with thick arms and legs and have strong muscles.

Characteristics of ENDOMORPHS

  • Soft and round body.
  • Gains muscle and fat very easily.
  • Is generally short.
  • Stocky build.
  • Round physique.
  • Finds it hard to lose fat.
  • Slow metabolism.
  • Muscles not so well defined.


As we know Endomorphs gains weight very easily and the unfortunately the gained is actually FAT not muscle. So to avoid this they should control the calories intake and minimize the calories intake as much as possible. A proper ENDOMORPHS diet plan should be followed. Where as to control the weight gain they must always train cardio and weight training.
